Clearview Makeover
Durango Hills Remodel
Before, drab and not very functional.
- This 1980’s simple mountain saltbox home was in need of a refresh.
- Simple plywood siding aged from UV exposure and not flashed properly at joints and around openings.
- Direct set windows with failing seals between the panes.
- Safety concerns with the deck railings not meeting current code standards.
- Wood siding failing where snow would pile up in winter.
- No air sealing or water resisitant barriers.
- Upper level windows that did not operate and allow for proper airflow in the summer.
Progress
- We started by replacing the existing builder grade windows and doors with new Anderson Fibrex windows and doors that meet current energy standards.
- We also put housewrap around as a water reistant barrier before installing the new siding details and flashing properly to the new windows.
- The 2 exterior decks were re-built and the roofing was replaced.
Siding:
- 22 Ga. bare metal corrugated siding was used in all areas where the snow would pile up off of the roof in the winter.
- The rest of the home used LP Smart Siding and trim with a 50 year warranty.
Windows and Doors:
- 2 new windows were added and brightened up the stairway. Another window was added to the dining room and a great view of the aspens and a large glacial erratic sandstone boulder.
New Doors:
- A new fiberglass entry door and insulated garage door finished out the exterior upgrades.
Decks:
- Decks were upgraded to a SS cable rail system and redwood cap rail. We also installed new Trex composite decking.
“After” The Finished Product:
- A new updated mountain home fitting for the expansive views all the way to New Mexico!
